What is Grammarly?
Grammarly, as you might already know, offers both free and premium versions.
The free version has everything you need to get started with writing useful articles, and the premium version of the software has so much more value to offer.
Grammarly free version is enough if you want to write clear, mistake-free, and high-quality content. But, if you need an advanced writing assistant, Grammarly Premium is the best solution.
Grammarly Premium is a paid option that offers 400+ types of grammar and spells checks, provides vocabulary enhancement suggestions, checks for plagiarism, and fixes errors within a few seconds while you write.
The Premium option starts at $29.95 per month if you choose the monthly plan.
However, there are two more plans available (Quarterly and Annual) for users with a discounted price.
The quarterly plan costs $19.98/month, and as a whole, you will pay $59.95.
Grammarly works where you do. It will give you corrections while you write on Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or anywhere else you write online.
There are many excellent features available in the Grammarly Premium, which we will talk about in detail as we move forward in this post.
In my opinion, Grammarly Premium is worth it.
I myself pay for the premium version because I love those extra features.
Grammarly Premium detects more spelling and grammar errors present in your document than the free version.
In short: If you are a professional writer, then spending money on the Grammarly Premium is worth it.
Who should and who should not buy Grammarly Premium?
I’m not here to sell you the premium version of the software.
Instead, I want to guide you on how upgrading to the premium plan of the software can be a fantastic decision for your writing business.
Before you read further, I want to share something with you guys.
Look, if you’re just starting as a newbie writer and are new to the online proofreading software concept upgrading to the paid plan wouldn’t make any sense.
What I would suggest is to first sign up for the free plan of Grammarly and use it extensively for at least one month.
Once you are highly satisfied with the software and feel the need to upgrade, then only go with the paid plan.
Coming back, we also have professional bloggers, freelance writers, and business owners reading this article.
For them, my recommendation would be to buy the premium version of the tool definitely.
If you create any type of content online at a professional level, you need a proofreading tool that can pinpoint all your mistakes and make your article look professionally written. You may also like to check this Grammarly affiliate program review.
Why should you use Grammarly Premium?
Now that you know Is it worth upgrading to the premium plan? Now, let’s understand why the heck should you make Grammarly’s CEO rich when they do offer a free plan.
Well, with Grammarly Premium, you not only get some of the advanced grammar checking features but a powerful plagiarism checker too.
With the advanced vocabulary builder, spelling mistake checker, sentence structure checker, and grammar checker, you are bound to write excellent content.
I’m not saying that you won’t be able to write good content with Grammarly’s free version but, extra error detecting system and plagiarism checker of the premium version clearly indicates that Grammarly Premium worth every penny.
So, If you’re thinking of upgrading it, my honest opinion is: you shouldn’t waste your time thinking. Go for the premium plan of Grammarly. Also, check this Grammarly discount.
Is Grammarly Premium pricing justified?
If you closely monitor and compare the pricing structure of other online proofreading tools with Grammarly, you’ll see a massive difference between both.
Grammarly is priced higher compared to proofreading tools like WhiteSmoke, Ginger, or ProWritingAid. So, why would you pay a higher price when you have the same set of features available in other tools?
Well, let me break it down for you.
So, to demonstrate, I tried to paste the same paragraph in both Grammarly and Ginger to find out which one shows the most accurate errors. And, the results were shocking. Here’s a fun little experiment I did.
On pasting the following paragraph in Ginger, I got zero errors. Check the image below.
On the flip side, the same paragraph has grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and clarity errors, as reported by Grammarly.
Can you notice the difference between both the tools? Does that make sense now?
The reason why you pay a higher price for Grammarly Premium compared to other online proofreading software is that the variety of errors Grammarly suggests you are unbeatable by other tools.
So, if you plan to upgrade to the premium plan, my suggestion to you would be to upgrade to Grammarly’s premium plan at least for a quarterly or the annual plan to save much money and still not compromise on the quality.
Features of Grammarly Premium
I won’t cover this part of the article in detail, like the name of the features is self-explanatory.
1. 400+ Types of Grammar Checks
In the free version of the software, you get 150 critical and spelling check errors, but with the premium version, it does not end here. You get more than 400 additional grammar and spelling checks, which will force you to write a good piece of article.
2. Writing Goals Setting
In the premium version of the software, you can also set the goals and tone of your writing. The tone of the article can be divided into five parts:
- Writing Style
Grammarly will check the errors according to the type of goals you decide for a particular document. Also, check the Grammarly free trial.
3. Vocabulary and writing style checks
With the Grammarly free trial version, the vocabulary suggestions are minimal. But once you upgrade to the paid plan, you get a whole bunch of extra vocabulary and writing style checks.
4. Plagiarism Checker
The fantastic plagiarism checker offered by Grammarly checks over 16 billion web pages and directly compares your article to find the copied information. If the software detects any copied information, it instantly alerts you.
Is Grammarly Premium better than a human proofreader?
However, I’d still choose Grammarly Premium over a human proofreader if I’m on a budget.
We all know that hiring a specialized human proofreader can be expensive, at least higher than paying $29.95/month for online proofreading software.
So, if you’re a blogger or a freelance writer, it would be a smart choice to use Grammarly over a human proofreader and save money.
In case, if you’re writing a book or research paper, I’d recommend you to avoid Grammarly and instead go for an actual human proofreader. Because a tool can go wrong with the error suggestions, but a human proofreader won’t.
My Opinion: Is Grammarly Premium worth it?
It’s a no brainer that Grammarly is one of the best selling online proofreading software.
So, if you’re planning to upgrade, it’s a BIG yes from my side because I use it daily and highly recommend it to all my readers as well.
